Trudging through the mud pit

Authentic AI for Marketing Course

Dear Readers,

I wrote a LinkedIn post today. LinkedIn offered to rewrite it with AI, so I said yes.

C’était terrible. Terrible in French sounds so much better than in English.

With a mouth full of marbles, the algorithm took my somewhat awkward but authentic phrasing and turned it into a marble puddle of muddle. It read like the drudgery of trudging through the mud on a hike in an emo teenage wasteland, like when you were 13 and on a forced hike with your parents. (Hi, Dad!)

And herein we find today's learning about generative AI.

Always talk back to GPT. Here's how.

In the passage below, I have taken LinkedIn's AI writing and critiqued it. My comments are in italics and brackets.

The Linked AI post (with my commentary)

I'm excited for June! 🌟 (Ahem, please don't use emojis in my posts; I'm a grumpy GenX.)

Join me this month to explore the world of AI and elevate your marketing game simultaneously. (We only have 10 hours. No world can be explored in 10 hours. And I never would say elevate unless it was about heels.)

I specialize in guiding business owners on leveraging generative AI tools such as ChatGPT to enhance their marketing strategies. (Please replace the word leverage with the word use. It's more simpler. Also, the word enhance reminds me of face cream. Don't use it in any context other than skincare. And don't talk about skincare to me. I get enough of that on social.)

In just five weeks, you'll craft your personalized AI assistant, Aimee, tailored to understand your business from a marketing angle, ensuring unwavering support. (craft is such a hipster word: craft beer, craft cheese, craft AI. hmm. maybe there's a marketing idea here. she's craft AI. cool. The phrase unwavering support reminds me of K'Naan and his song for the Olympics about the waving flag. Sorry, my stream-of-consciousness university self took hold there. It's a hallucination; people have them, too, Aimee. Ignore.)

Mark your calendars for five engaging sessions, each spanning 2 hours, commencing on June 2. Sessions will be held on Monday mornings, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. (there are three many words ending in -ing in that sentence that's for sure. rewrite like Hemingway with Gloria Steinem wit! Has someone overtaken your knowledge files, Aimee?)

Discover more about this transformative opportunity through the link shared in the comments. 🚀 hashtag#AI hashtag#MarketingTransformation (Please make it clear that in this course we do not go shoe shopping to elevate our personal brand, skincare shopping to enhance our marketing strategy, wave flags, commence, span, or otherwise speak with marbles in our mouths.)

In short!

Feel free to give ChatGPT all the detailed negative feedback that you'd never be allowed to share in real life. Responses will improve, and releasing your stress on a machine will feel good.

Happy chatting!

Danielle Wintrip CM B2B & Professional Services Marketing Authentic AI for Marketing Course May 28, 2025 Dear Reader, Lately, I have been seized with a desire to write in the Victorian novel style, which is how generative AI would have found its own expression if it hadn't been trained on the Internet. And if it had, we would have sentences like this one, which, to my mind, is the second most perfect sentence ever written. "It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man, in...

Danielle Wintrip CM B2B & Professional Services Marketing Authentic AI for Marketing Course Hi [First Name], Working with ChatGPT can feel like talking to a teenager. Sometimes effusive, sometimes emo, and often not living up to its side of the conversation. Generative AI tools like ChatGPT can be brilliant, but only when we know how to ask for what we want. So, I created SEEQR©—a simple framework to help you think more clearly with AI, not just at it. SEEQR© isn’t another prompt formula,...

Hi Reader, Ever typed something into ChatGPT and gotten back a weird, flat, slightly-too-cheerful mess? I'm hosting a free webinar on Friday, April 11, at 11 a.m. ET called "How to Talk to GPT" It's for curious humans who want to feel a little more in charge when using ChatGPT—whether for business, everyday life, or just the joy of figuring out how this thing works. We'll cover: What most people get wrong when writing prompts Small changes that make a big difference in what GPT gives you back...
